One of the fundamental goals of the 2016 Recreation Master Plan was to ensure that neighbouring municipalities are collaborating and communicating with each other in regards to new and existing recreation opportunities, to avoid duplication of services and facilities within the region. It is in everyone's best interest to ensure that existing facilities are being fully utilized before new capital funds are invested.
We recognize that every project or initiative is important to the community or user group supporting it.
Before a project can be evaluated by the Grande Prairie Regional Recreation Committee, the first step is to determine if it has regional merit:
If your project scores Medium or Significant regional merit, you can proceed and submit a Project Proposal Application to the Grande Prairie Regional Recreation Committee.
If your project scores as having No regional merit, we suggest that you refer to your host municipality for further guidance.
